Insurance Bill and Breed Specific Legislation

CROSS POST

***DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO ASK, PLEASE CROSS-POST ANYWHERE PEOPLE HAVE DOGS,
REMEMBER YOUR BREED MIGHT BE NEXT!***

I have just caused a bill to be introduced in the Washington State House of
Representatives by Rep. Tom Campbell (R) and by Rep. Steve Kirby (D), HB
1895, that will prevent insurance carriers from refusing to issue policies,
and from canceling policies, based upon the particular breed owned. Here is
a link to the bill:

The two sponsors were VIP Award Presenters at the Seattle Kennel Club show
two weeks ago.

We have work to do. I need all dog fanciers to contact the Chair of the
House Committee On Financial Institutions and Insurance, Rep. SHAY
SCHUAL-BERKE, M.D., and ask her to set a hearing for this bill. We must have
a hearing by March 5 on this bill, or it dies. Rep. Schual-Berke's contact
information is as follows:

We are trying to get a companion bill introduced in the Senate. If so, we
will need all fanciers to contact the Senate as well. Even if you do not
live in Washington state, it is important that these legislators hear from
you. Inundate them with requests to support this bill, and to get a hearing.
I cannot do this alone. I need you to help me with this. This is a potential
springboard. Take this language. Contact your Own legislator. Have them
introduce it in your state. Additionally, invite them to your local shows.
They are greatly impressed by what they see.

Please cross-post this on all other lists, whether or not they are Doberman
related. Time is of the essence. Thank you all for your anticipated
cooperation and support.
