Nineteen participants in a Quinte Field Naturalist outing got a good look at a black vulture at 11:40 a.m., Nov. 1 among the red-tailed hawks and turkey vultures near the banding station at Prince Edward Point. The bird did not reappear.
John Blaney Belleville 1-613-962-9337 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Directions to Prince Edward Point with a map can be found on the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory web site (www.peptbo.ca/map.htm). The following paraphrases the information found there. Take highway 62 south from Belleville through Bloomfield where it becomes highway 33. About 5 km past Bloomfield turn right at the Waring House Inn onto County Rd 1 (Sandy Hook Rd). Follow this road for two or three km to a stop sign at County Rd 10. Turn right and continue to follow Cty Rd 10 to Cherry Valley. At the stop sign turn left and stay on County Rd 10 to Milford. At the stop sign turn left and then quickly turn right. You are still on County Rd 10. Within 5 km you will come to a stop sign and a "T" junction. The Marine Museum will be across the road on your left. Turn right onto County Rd 13 and follow it to the point. The banding station is the building on your right with the Canadian flag in front before you get to the dock. Believe it or not this is the route involving the fewest turns and least confusion.
