Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintains records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with 'Kingston FN'. Alternatively, please email or post records
directly to me - contact details below. Please note that some sightings may
require review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise.

 

Highlights:

A return to warmer weather from the south in the latter part of the week has
stalled much of the migration that was visible earlier. Here are the
highlights of the last 7 days:

 

SNOW GOOSE - birds are already passing through the general area with birds
seen in Prince Edward County earlier in the week and 2 on Wolfe Island today
(5th).

CACKLING GOOSE - 2 birds were at Reed's bay, Wolfe Island on 5th.

TUNDRA SWAN - the first bird of the winter was seen on Amherst Island on 3rd
with 22 present on Wolfe Island on 5th.

SURF SCOTER - 2 birds were seen on Amherst Island on 3rd.

HORNED GREBE - good numbers (26) were seen on Amherst Island on 3rd.

DUNLIN - birds were seen on Amherst Island (3rd), Wolfe Island (5th), and
Gananoque (5th).

WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER - a single bird was at Reed's Bay, Wolfe Island, on
5th.

FOX SPARROW - an early bird was seen at Marshland's CA, Kingston on 29th
Sept.

WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW - birds arrived relatively early to the area with good
numbers arriving on Amherst Island on 29th Sept.

NELSON'S SPARROW - a single was seen at the traditional location of Martin
Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island on 3rd, with another banded at Prince Edward
Point on the same date.

BOBOLINK - 2 birds were seen on Amherst Island on 3rd.

ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER - 3 birds were seen on Amherst Island on 3rd, with
another on Murray Island, NY on 4th.

Naturalists (KFN), or be accompanied by a member, to access both the Martin
