Hi all,

I'm updating the book to the most recent stable version of Gnumeric.
The package documentation states that only minimal GNOME packages need
to be installed (libgnomeprintui and its dependencies) to build a
functional application.

There have been reports on this, and the -support, list that more
GNOME packages (libgnomeui and dependencies) need to be installed so
that Gnumeric will function properly.

I cannot test this on my current test platform as I have a full GNOME
environment. I will try to test this out on another machine when I get
the time (it is an older, slower machine, and not much fun to build
packages on).

The package documentation is fairly convincing that Gnumeric will
build with just the minimal GNOME packages, using a GTK+ front end
to build the GUI with. If this is the case, the BLFS book should
reflect this.

Right now, the book lists libgnomeui (and friends) as a required
dependency. This is a fairly heavy load of packages. If they are
indeed not required, it would be a good thing to move this dependency
to the optional side and modify the book to reflect any changes the
instructions may need.

Anybody with any information along these lines is encouraged to speak
up and let us know what information you may have.
