I see the extra -- but not the extra &&. Did you miss the make in:
./configure --prefix=/usr \
--sysconfdir=/etc \
----libexecdir=/usr/lib/dbus-1.0 \
--localstatedir=/var &&
make
?
I've just updated the -- typeo in my sandbox and the fix will go in my next
commit.
