Let's try this again... hope this time, it sends as plaintext. I've had problems displaying some PDFs with Poppler/xpdf based viewers - individual characters would not be displayed. Following the tracks of a related bug report at Ubuntu (#252250, https://bugs.launchpad.net/poppler/+bug/252250) I came across the related report in Freetype's tracker (#24430, https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=24430). The patch in that bug fixed the issue for me. I'm attaching it for your convenience.
