Wal-Mart to Pay $3.1 Mln Settlement Wed May 12, 3:30 PM ET By Deborah Charles WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT - news) has agreed to pay a $3.1 million fine to settle charges of violations of the federal Clean Water Act at store construction sites across the country, the U.S. government said on Wednesday. The fine was the largest civil penalty ever against a company for storm water runoff violations.
