Oh! I forgot about local patch that removes this one... it's from 2006 commited with log message: "- don't preselect AM_GNU_GETTEXT_INTL_SUBDIR, it breaks AM_GNU_GETTEXT([external])" Not sure if the "breaks AM_GNU_GETTEXT([external])" is still there because I don't even remember what that issue really was. I guess something didn't work well if there was no (need for internal) intl subdirectory. Sorry for a noise !
