This version is almost *eight* years old! Please try the current
version, 1.20.1.

Perhaps problems with access rights? grops collects data in a
temporary file named /tmp/gropsXXXXXX (using `mkstemp').
I suggest to use `strace' or a similar program to analyze which files
grops tries to open.
