I'm afraid that you are misunderstanding something. I also have already said that I would add graphics support into GRUB after 1.0. If you are in doubt, see the mail archive. I don't remember when I said that, though. (Actually, I will never add it into the current line of GRUB but into PUPA, which will be GRUB 2 in the future. GRUB 0.9x is too ugly to maintain.) The reason why I don't like to discuss this is that the same discussion was raised again and again in the past, and I had to write the same answer again and again. That wasted my time a lot. Maybe I should add this into the FAQ. If you see the same question again, please send a reply instead of me. I want to work on what prevents me from releasing 1.0. There are many things that are more important than splashimage.
