But this does not occur in my environment. Can you investigate this
for yourself or tell me how to reproduce this?

Neither I am. But the amount of wasted memory could be negligeable.
Maybe the right thing could be to implement a GRUB version of
setjmp/longjmp, but I didn't think that was worthwhile.
