http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=40879

           Summary: Particular SSI causes apache to return spurious data to
                    client
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.2.2
          Platform: Sun
               URL: http://private intranet site
        OS/Version: Solaris
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: mod_include
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Given the following SHTML:

<html>
 <head>
  <title>
   Test include
  </title>
 </head>
 <body>
  <h1>Here's the save.txt:</h1>
  <pre>
   <!--#include virtual="save.txt"-->
  </pre>
 </body>
</html>

Then if "save.txt" contains something like "hello, World" then it works fine.
However, with the following text the text in "save.txt" the page does not
display:

147.114.80.135 on 2006/06/09 11:06:01
147.114.80.135 on 2006/06/09 11:07:26

127.0.0.1 on 2006/10/31 15:56:04
147.114.62.148 on 2006/11/01 16:25:09

It either times out after a long time with IE complaining "Cannot find server
or DNS Error", or if interrupted displays this:

1c

0

Source code for this looks like:

1c

  </pre>
 </body>
</html>

0

The apache version is 2.2.2 and the directives are:

  <Directory "/path/to/htdocs">
          Options Includes
          AddType text/html .shtml
          AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml .html
          # AddOutputFilter INCLUDES .shtml
          AddHandler server-parsed .shtml
  </Directory>

Sorry I don't have time to test with the latest version. I've logged this
against mod_include, not because we load that explicitly (we don't), but
because that's presumably the area of code that's at fault here?

Regards,
David.
