Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------

     The last sighting of the WOOD STORK at Knox-Marsellus Marsh was 8/17. The 
ROSEATE SPOONBILL was still present yesterday at the same location.
     8/17: 9 shorebird species including  a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE were seen on 
the Wildlife Drive.
     8/19: A STILT SANDPIPER was seen from East Road.
     8/20: A WILSON’S PHALAROPE was seen from Towpath road.
     8/21: 11 shorebird species including both DOWITCHERS and 3 RED-NECKED 
PHALAROPES were seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. also seen in the area were two 
CAPE MAY WARBLERS.


Onondaga County
------------

     8/17: The following birds were seen from the Marshy Spits of Onondaga Lake 
to the south west end of the lake and also south of the tracks. WHITE-RUMPED 
SANDPIPER, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, SANDERLING, WILSON’S PHALAROPE.
     8/18: A BLACK TERN was seen at the Marshy Spits on Onondaga Lake.
     8/20: A SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was seen at the Marshy Spits.
     8/21: A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen at Raddison River Park (private) on 
the west side of the Seneca River.A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen on 
Goodrich Road in Fabius. 2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen in Manlius.
     8/22: A BAIRD’S SANDPIPER was seen at Muskrat Bay on Oneida Lake.


Oswego County
---------------    

     At least one PIPING PLOVER is still being seen at the outlet of Sandy Pond 
on Lake Ontario. also seen numerous times this week at that location were RED 
KNOT and WHIMBREL.
     8/18: A WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was seen at Sandy Pond. 
     8/19: 4 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS were seen at Sandy Pond.
     8/20: A RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was seen at Sandy Pond. 
     8/21: A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen on Hinman Road north of Pulaski.
     8/22: A WILLET was seen at Sandy Pond.
     8/23: At Sandy Pond today: SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER, KILLDEER, RUDDY 
TURNSTONE, RED KNOT, STILT SANDPIPER, SANDERLING, BAIRD’S SANDPIPER, LEAST 
SANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER, SHORT-BILLED SANDPIPER 
and both YELLOWLEGS. A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen at Great Bear 
Recreation Area north of Phoenix.


Madison County
------------

     8/17: A BAIRD’S SANDPIPER and 2 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were seen at the 
Sky High sod Farm on Lakeport Road north of Chittenango. The BUFF-BREASTED 
SANDPIPERS were relocated again the next day.
     8/18: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER and an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER were seen on 
Marsh Mill Road. The OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was relocated the next day. A CAPE 
MAY WARBLER and a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER were seen at Chapman Park west of 
Lakeport.
     8/19: SANDERLINGS were seen on Ditchbank road north of Canastota.


Oneida County
------------

     RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS continue at Verona Beach state Park and on 
Lakeshore Drive at the north east side of Oneida Lake.
     8/21: COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen over Clinton.


Herkimer County
------------

     8/17: 8 Shorebird species including a RED KNOT were seen at the McKoons  
Road Wetlands north of Richfield Springs.
     8/20: an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen at the General herkimer Home Park 
east of Little Falls.
     8/22: 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS were again spotted on the south side of Little 
Falls.


Extraliminal
------------

     8/23: A SWALLOW-TAILED KITE was found today in Yates County near the 
corner of Stryker Road and Briggs Road west of Penn Yan.
