The international PhD program of the Biozentrum, University of Basel,
Switzerland, is open for applications until June, 30th.

Successful candidates in this competitive program will have a chance to do two
lab rotations of two month each before selecting a host lab at the Biozentrum
for their PhD. They are generously supported by a personal fellowship
(currently 42000/45000/48000CHF in the 1/2/3 year, plus an extra allowance for
study-related expenses, such as meetings or laptops). All PhD students at
Biozentrum are mentored by a PhD advisory committee and benefit from an
excellent postgraduate teaching program, including specialized lecture and
seminar series in structural biology. A PhD club organizes PhD retreats as
well as lectures and seminars. With around 550 staff members from more than 30
countries in five major research areas (growth and development, structural
biology & biophysics, neurobiology, infection biology as well as computational
& systems biology) Biozentrum offers an interdisciplinary atmosphere for
cutting-edge research.

The Focal Area Structural Biology & Biophysics at Biozentrum provides a highly
collaborative environment and state-of-the-art facilities for X-ray
crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, electron microscopy and nanobiology. We are
supported by core facilities for biophysical techniques, proteomics, advanced
imaging, electron microscopy and quantitative genomics. For more information
about groups and facilities see http://www.biozentrum.unibas.ch; for specific
questions on the Focal Area Structural Biology & Biophysics, feel free to
contact me informally (timm.ma...@unibas.ch<mailto:timm.ma...@unibas.ch>). The
application procedure includes requests for letters of reference, so start your
application in time.
