A Postdoctoral Research Assistant position is available at Queen Mary
University of London (QMUL) to work with Professor Richard Pickersgill, Dr
Vidya Darbari, and Dr Arianna Fornili in collaboration with Dr Vladimir
Shevchik (University of Lyon) on the structure of the type II secretion system
assembly platform. The post-holder will be funded by BBSRC on a project
entitled “Structure of the assembly platform of the bacterial type II secretion
system”.

The post-holder will conduct research to understand the molecular organisation
and structure of the assembly platform of the type II secretion system. The
project involves producing inner membrane assembly complexes and determining
their structures using cryo-electron microscopy. Key techniques will include
molecular biology, biochemistry, and cryo-electron microscopy. Prior experience
in as many of these techniques as possible is desirable. The post-holder will
join a multidisciplinary team with frequent interactions.

The start date is July 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is
full-time and available until July 2025.
