Markus is author and lead on the spectacular new paper "Teixobactin kills
bacteria by a two-pronged attack on the cell
envelope<https://instruct-eric.org/scientifichighlights/instruct-nl-and-instruct-it-combine-to-crack-function-of-new-antibiotic-teixobactin>"
(Shukla et al, 2022), which has delved deep into the function and mechanism by
which this new antibiotic attacks the bacterial cell envelope.

The webinar will take place 11:00 - 12:00 CEST. Register for the webinar
here.<https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_zSFF7DIWTnebTFYQVO1DMw>

Moderator: Prof Harald Schwalbe, Instruct-ERIC<https://instruct-eric.org/>
Director

Speaker: Markus Weingarth, Associate Professor at Bijvoet
Centre<https://instruct-eric.org/centre/bijvoet-center---uu/>

Abstract: The group of Markus Weingarth studies the mode of action of
membrane-active antibiotics on several length scales (micrometre to angstrom)
using solid-state NMR as core technique. This talk will focus on the recent
discovery of the supramolecular killing mechanism of the antibiotic teixobactin
(Shukla et al., Nature, 2022).
