I set stream_recording off yesterday and did a run at the end of the day. The screen output appeared that it worked OK. Then the cron ran the script this morning and it took over 2 hours. But it failed again, however in different locations.

The problems in different locations. That has been typical of all the media as well. I have not placed any stickers or labels on the media that can cause balance issues. since this is a new machine I just built to replace the old backup server. So I tried the USB drive from the old server but had the same problem. The USB drive had a separate power supply as well. So I then had to conclude it was the media. That is why I purchased another set and found the "for Data" thinking it was higher standards. Overall the same problem continues. At the present time I am of the opinion that BD-RE is just too unreliable to continue working with it for data purposes. I might try another method of using the media like a tape drive by writing the tar file directly. I think xorriso will do that from the man page.
