While looking for something similar, but a bit lighter weight I came across http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome recently. Not nearly as feature rich as ZoneMinder, but does most of the basic stuff that I needed - including motion detection, upload to remote, run a live-feed for a browser.
