we’re using a configManager object that we pass into the init of almost all of our objects (and if it’s a decorated obj, pass it onto the other objects “downstream”)

 

because it’s effectively passed byRef, any changes to DSN or any paths it contains will flow nicely to all objects – just what I was looking for.

as for specifying app wide settings on startup, I can’t really see anything wrong with the way ASP.NET uses it’s web.config file. seems neat enough…
