Remoting is easier to implement and may have an edge in performance (binary format vs XML) but that may not be big difference if you use http compression.
Just to throw this out there....
From what I understand http compression only helps with the passing of data back and forth. With it enabled, there is little difference between web services and Flash Remoting.
However, the player is more efficient dealing with Remoting than it is in Web Services, and those differences can be significant for larger chunks of data.
