Yup. There's a good reason this went in immediately *after* the release and not
before.
It doesn't work properly. However this is all going to be fixed and this was
just one step towards a proper implementation of the whole AWT imaging mess.
Don't worry, major changes will always cause major regressions. But by the next
release I think you'll find that this is all working far better than it ever
has before.
