The built-in Clojure REPL is bare-bones to minimize external dependencies. Maybe some day we can have alternate distributions with more full-featured REPLs. For now, it's easier to use a development environment: Emacs + inferior-lisp or SLIME, Counterclockwise + Eclipse, Clooj, LaClojure + IntelliJ, ...
