Alex Heneveld commented on CLOUDSTACK-748:
------------------------------------------
Am interested in a use case similar to this but seems to me that a Shared
Network would be an *anti-pattern* in most situations.
Unless it is some special network, seems this "solution" would give all the
VM's in the multi-tier app visibility of each other -- destroying the isolation
benefits of the VPC. Have I misunderstood, or are you assuming people are
using VPC for something else? (Or is there a way to make such a special
network, with special routing rules internally?)
(If I haven't misunderstood should we lower priority? It is a GUI/API mismatch
but not so useful.)

> When deploying a virtual machine, the API allows a user to deploy VM on one
> of the tiers as well as a shared network. The UI doesn't allow this
> functionality. This feature needs to be enabled in UI.
> Use Case: Users might want to deploy all of their VM of a multi-tier app and
> receive a monitoring service via a Shared Network provided by the provider.
