I would advise you try to build out of source tree to keep the source
clean. Example:
$ mkdir build-linux64
$ cd build-linux64
$ cmake .. -G'Unix Makefiles'
$ make
$ make install
when done, you can then do:
$ cd ..
$ rm -rf build-linux64
