Shelley, I was interested to read that you are on combo Inteferon & Gleevec. I just went through my 6 mos. bmb/bma, Cytogenetic Remissions, No phillies observed, FISH was .4% but my myloid blast only dropped from 3% to 2%. He is going to give it another 4 mos. then do another bmb/bma, if the results do not read the way he wants he would like for me to go on combo Inteferon & Gleevec. I would be very interested in hearing your story. I work and am also the primary 'medical' coverage through my work so being able to work is very important, as well as, quality of life is also very important to me. What prompted your onc to try the combo? How have you done? What side effects? What is the goal your hoping to acheive with the combo treatments? Wishes for many health days to come. I am still on the combo of INF and Gleevec. I am doing fairly well with it except for the pain with the Neupogen. I am waiting for Dr. Mauro to get back to me on the future of this combo. My Gleevec rash is quite annoying at the present time. I am now taking Atarax for the itching. I have been scratching so hard that I am black and blue. I have had sinus, ear, and eye infections, but they have all been treated. I'm just not sure if the ear infection is gone. I am just tired of seeing doctors. > > My husband is doing well. My 3 children are well and thriving. My youngest is still waiting to gt a positive response to medical school. The middle one is out in the submarine for 2 months and still doesn't know that he has been accepted into college for the fall semester when he gets out of the Navy. My eldest one is studying hard for Chief Petty Officer in the Navy. He is taking the test 2 years earlier on recommendations from his superiors. > > That's about it in sunny Florida.
