I was wondering if this was the same Lisa that used to post here and on the other groups. Does anyone know?
If it is, how sad. Comments on the article, suggest that Lisa never took any drugs and was at the wrong place at the wrong time. If this is the Lisa I am thinking of then I believe that, from what I remember she was a very dedicated person who worked hard to help people. This was such a horrible thing for her son. My heart goes out to her. Love and Peace, Cheryl-Anne By MIKE WELLS of The Tampa Tribune Published: April 2, 2008 As detectives continue investigating the slaying of Lisa Lynn Martinez, the woman's loved ones are grieving. Martinez was found Saturday morning by her 11-year-old son in her Town 'N Country home at 7304 Sunshine Circle, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Lisa Martinez (2002) Photo courtesy of Arlene Hunsinger Authorities have not identified a suspect, and no one has been charged in the homicide. Outside the woman's home, friends have left flowers, balloons and cards next to a statue of an angel. Martinez sold business-to-business telephone systems and maintenance plans for Avatel Technologies in Brandon. Her supervisor, Jamie Wood, said Martinez was beloved by staff and customers. "She'd been with me for 18 years as an employee and a dear friend," Wood said. "She managed a big national account, for which I can't give out the name, but they are flying in for her funeral. They were so close to her. Even our customers thought so much of her." Arlene Hunsinger met Martinez in 1999 when they both worked for Lucent Technologies, she said. She described Martinez as generous and supportive. "She took on three children that were not even her own," Hunsinger said. "They were relatives. Two of them lost their parents. ... She just didn't want them going into the system." The 11-year-old boy who found her was one of those children, Hunsinger said. Martinez was in remission from leukemia, Hunsinger said. "When she was first diagnosed, she would not just accept it," Hunsinger said. "She went online, did research, and found the doctor [who] was doing some research on a drug called Gleevec." When the drug was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2001, Martinez got a prescription and went into remission about five years later, Hunsinger said. "She was always doing things for charity, particularly women's issues," the friend said. Martinez had worked hard to overcome a troubled past, Hunsinger said. In 1991, Martinez was convicted of drug charges in New Jersey and served 15 months in prison, according to the New Jersey Department of Corrections. "She had talked about it," Hunsinger said. "She pulled herself up from the very bottom - as low as you could get. She overcame all kinds of tragedies and horrible things in her life." Martinez's husband, Jose Antonio Martinez, 43, died March 26, 2007, records show. They were preceded in death by a son, Mikey. They are survived by a son, Jose Jr., and three granddaughters. Detectives have not released further details about the homicide investigation, including how Martinez was killed. Martinez's boyfriend, Jamie Cruz Rodriguez, 42, was arrested Saturday night on a drug charge while at the sheriff's office on Falkenburg Road, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. He was being questioned about the homicide when a crack pipe fell out of his pocket, she said. He was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Early Sunday, he posted $2,500 bail and was released from Orient Road Jail, records show. Efforts to contact Rodriguez for comment Tuesday afternoon were unsuccessful. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ [CMLHope] A support group of http://cmlhope.com ------------------------------------------------- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "CMLHope" group.
