CharlotteObserver Sun, Apr. 18, 2004 Dig into spring at Cornelius community garden workshops
CORNELIUS - The Cornelius Park and Recreation Department and Piedmont Landscaping and Naturescaping Training (PLANT) will sponsor a series of community garden workshops this spring. Workshops are at the Robbins Park Community Garden in Cornelius, at Robbins Park, off Interstate 77's Exit 28. The next program is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, and the topic will be "Organic Vegetable Gardening." The Cornelius community garden was started last year and has offered residents of northern Mecklenburg County -- where once-rural land quickly is being developed -- a chance to grow fruits and vegetables. Additional programs at the Cornelius garden this spring will be "Wildlife Habitat," from 10 a.m. to noon May 22; and "Butterfly Gardening," from 10 a.m. to noon June 19. Cost of each class is $10.
