Remember, CE was extracted from Curbly, so some of its features were intended for use on that site ;)Featured Writer is just a way of distinguishing certain writers from others. On Curbly, for example, our paid writers get this label, so they are identified on the site and their posts are more easily found.
Moderator is a role that is one step below admin; moderators can edit and delete other users posts and comments, but can't remove or activate users.
