Tried ftp install, with fixed IP and _without DNS_ this morning.
Installed a minimal system, without changing anything to the network conf after
installation.

I *always* have my interface up and running wether I fill in a hostname or not.
This just change the HOSTNAME=... field in /etc/sysconfig/network.

Network installation configuration is written to config files.

What happend if you set it up by hand ?

During install I didn't configure my network. (didn't scroll the resume box).
the default is dhcp(/zeroconf?).
I ran drakconnect (the first time in drakconf, the second time alone), to
configure it. I entered all my parameters: fixed IP, etc, etc.... The ending
box said all is okay, but not.
the driver for the card is loaded. but no ip is assigned to interface.
Seems that the files /etc/sysconfig/network and
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 aren't written with the new values.
