Ok, I have tried compiling the FastTrak.o file myself.
I installed Mandrake to an old 4 gig HD, I edited the make file as
Nicolas suggested above and ran it. Put FastTrak.o on an ext2 floppy,
and reboot with Mandrake CD. DO expert install, and I get ISMOD FAILED,
after loading the driver, and switch to other terminal and there
is almost a page worth of unresolved symbols.

I then try compiling the .o file without the modification suggested above.
BTW, the original make file allready had that modification, and it was
commented out. It compiled, and i gave that a try, After selecting the driver, from
the floppy, the floppy drive whirrs for a few seconds and stops, then
the system seems to freeze up. I wait for a while, like over 10 mins, and
still nothing. Cant change terminals with alt-Fx either, nothing, frozen.

I checked the floppy, nothing seems to be wrong with it. Its the FastTrak.o,
not the fasttrak.o file. i can copy it off of the floppy, too, so i dont think
there is anything wrong there.

Any suggestions on how to proceede in solving this problem? If there is something i
can do, please tell me.

I have a new PC with the Promise FastTrack sx4000 configured as RAID 5. The
chip set is PDC20621. I have tried to install Mandrake 9.2 rc2 and this
storage media in not dectected in the set up. I tried some drivers compiled
here :http://majestic.lugh.de/~fs/promise/ put the FastTrack.o file on a
ext2 formated floppy and tried again. The driver failed to load. "ismod failed"
or something like that, looked on other screen and it said something about
symbols mismatching. I suppose i could install 9.2 rc2 to anothe machine,
and compile the drivers and try that, but i think that i would have to do this
EVERYTIME i upgrade. Can some one use the source at
http://majestic.lugh.de/~fs/promise/ to help make it so that Mandrake supports
this card? Please help.
