This goes back to my original suggestion (way back to 8.0) in this Cooker list. There needs to be some sort of system to signal when Cooker is "broken" or installable. I suggested a simple "Red, Yellow, Green" stop light method. Someone from Mandrake can simply send an e-mail to this list stating the Cooker status: RED = Unusable (not installable) - Currently in major change (ie: major gcc update) - proceed with extreme caution! YELLOW = Works mostly - some packages may have problems, but the core system is functional and installable. Great for upgrade testing of selected packages. GREEN = Installable, almost alpha or early beta quality - needs heavy testing and bug squashing (the devil is in the details!) As usual, Cooker is a development tree and should NOT be used in a production environment. Use at own risk! To answer your question, I'd say that Cooker is in the "Yellow" state - meaning that it's installable but some things are broken. All the best, R. Fox
