I had a nice Opteron @ 1.8 Ghz and an Athlon64 at greater speed.

It is well supported. Just that I "forgot" to add my nforce3 patch to 
standard ia32 kernel. We were frozen, you know. ;-)

Yes but I for sure know that 1002 works, I have not tried 1003_03 yet.
