The locale is supposed to provide that information, through
LC_PAPER (fields 'height' and 'width', values in mm)
However, not all locales define it.

It should work as this:
- use the paper size from the locale if it exists.
- if not, then use A4 size (297x210 mm)

US, Puerto-Rico and Canadian locales define LC_PAPER, and as far as I know
those are the three only remaining countries not yet using standard A4 paper.
So the above simple mechanism (taking the info from the locale, or defaulting
to A4 if not available) should work in 99.9999% of the cases.

Printerdrake rocks :o) For certain locales it knows to make default paper size Letter
instead of A4 for things like CUPS and KDE, one thing it misses is a2ps.

The fix could be trivial, just do a s/A4/Letter on /etc/a2ps-site.cfg
