This is a lost recipe but I still have the old cutout
from an old oatmeal box.
It's now the same recipe nowadays.  This is the best.

Original Quaker Oatmeal Cookie 1955
*(and 2 good recipe links at the bottom)

2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. gr. cloves
1 cup vegetable shortening
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 large eggs, beaten
2/3 cup sour milk (make by adding scant tbl. lemon
juice to regular milk)
1 1/3 cups Quaker oats
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped nuts

Sift the first 5 ingredientstogether.  Cream
shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat until smooth.
Add dry ingredientsin small amounts alternately with
milk.  Stir in the last 3 ingredients.  Drop by
teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350
degrees until golden.
Usually 8 minutes.
