No.

The return address is checked before the sending mail server transmits the
list of recipients.

take some load and abiguity off spamassassin - also, wasn't there a bad mx
check for verisign squatting on *.net?

Last month Yahoo announced that they will propose a sender verification mechanism to validate return addresses. They promised that it will be based on open standards, with no intellectual property encumbrances.

Provided that they will follow through on their promise, and they don't do
something stupid, like using a âtrusted authorityâ certificate model, this
is going to be the final solution. âfreemailâ is just a temporary stop-gap
measure.
