You can add
IP.AD.DR.ESS<tab>allow,BOFHCHECKDNS=0

to /etc/courier/smtpaccess/default at the same time when you add to
smtproutes, run makesmtpaccess and I think courier will pass messages
from that host. At least I find lines like these in my configs.
