Yes, everytime.

I even filterctl stop, ensured the link was removed then filterctl start 
and checked the link was in place.

But you pointed me to the right place : I tried executing the filter 
like this :

sudo -u daemon /etc/courier/filters/active/pythonfilter

(instead of executing the /usr/local/bin/pythonfilter directly)

and got a nice permission denied because, for some reason, the "active" 
directory was owned by root:root and 760

Just gave the directory back to daemon:daemon and now it works.
