Hi folks, After receiving a Daily Summary of *more than one* entry about a failing distribution, one author decided to simply reply to the summary address, which is the '[email protected]' address. I did think that would be a clue.
The author had intended to reply to one of the testers, but obviously not understanding the email, and perhaps most significantly not *READING* the email, failed to see the part about replying to a tester directly, using the Find A Tester service to obtain their email address. I replied, asking him to send directly to the tester he was trying to contact, using the Find A Tester service. This is the reply I got: ----- Start forwarded message ----- I don't care enough. If there's a find-a-tester service, then replying to the original automated email should use that service and forward the message accordingly. ----- End forwarded message ----- I was going to reply and say that seeing as he didn't care, then why should I care. I guess it's easier to shout at someone for your own failings than do something about it! Before anyone starts up that yes he's right, bear in mind that the summaries can contain entries for several testers, several different environments and several different distributions. On top of that some authors include all FAIL/NA/UNKNOWN reports, and some include PASS reports. Which address should the reply go to? I'm tempted to just disable summaries for this author, as if they don't care enough to do a bit of investigation, then they aren't likely to be that interested in the summaries in the first place. However, is there anything constructive I could add to the summary emails (see the template [1]), that would be more explanatory as to what the summaries are and how to use the Find A Tester service?
