When you start on a minimal install VM (which is what you often have for a
build box), having linefeeds that Notepad understand is just a nice touch.
It used to be practically free on Subversion. Not all that important, IMO.

CC.rb did run on JRuby back when - Ola and yours truly had to fix a couple
of problems with JRuby to make that happen :)
