The Pelican brief is a literary threat targeting the U.S. Supreme Court concerning a real case that was in the federal circuit in 1992; one that has the potential of eventually being reviewed by the Supreme Court. The case is the engineering student's federal civil rights action, cv-92-3553 (NHP) Newark, NJ. How can a book which appears to be about an illegal oil business(oil drilling on federally protected land), and a smart law student from Tulane University, be compared or associated with a real federal civil rights action that was pending in the courts at the time? A very good question. Federal Courthouse, Newark, NJ Where cv-92-3553 was filed Not only are there names in the Pelican Brief that are either defendant names in cv-92-3553 or associated with the case in some way, but the basic elements of the story coincide with that of the federal civil rights case. People who are "inside" the system are familar with this technique of targeting___and understood the threat that it conveyed to the law community and the U.S. Supreme Court. The character names in the Pelican Brief that are used to link the book to the case are: The senior law clerk - ? Kline, and the FBI Director's name ? Lewis. Coincidence? There is a defendant in cv-92-3553 with the name Teresa Kline; and defendant Kline worked at the (NASA)Lewis Research Center. These are the literary links to the case. A smart law student from Tulane might say that at this point there still is the possibility of coincidence. Okay, lets continue with the analysis. The Premise of the Pelican Brief The Pelican brief, broken down into its basic elements, is about an illegal business(billion dollar oil company that wanted to drill on federally protected land). The land was protected by federal statute because it was the habitat of the Brown Pelican, an endangered species. The federal court being the guardian of the Brown Pelican's right to exist/survive. The case supportive the Brown Pelican's right to exist was working its way through the federal court system___final destination: the U.S. Supreme Court. So, the Billion dollar company decided to fix the deck! They began assasinating Supreme Court judges in order to insure a favorable Supreme Court ruling. So, we have a helpless animal and the federal court system vs. an illegal (because of federal law) billion dollar industry____and the business men murdering Supreme Court Justices to obtain a favorable ruling. This is the scandal that Darby Shaw(Julia Robert's character) exposed in the Pelican Brief. The Elements of the Engineering Student's Civil Rights Action On the surface, the student's federal civil rights action addresses government retaliation by a federal employer___but case(cv-92-3553) exposes more than that! The federal complaint exposes the conspiracy that manipulated the student into the situation with the U.S. Army Propulsion Directorate(the student was a hard worker___he didn't do anything to provoke them), and it exposes the federally illegal(un-Constitutional) business that the defendants are involved in__a billion dollar industry of illegal gambling(RICO), exploitation, and worse! A smart Tulane law student would probably ask what if the case is litigated until it reaches the U.S. Supreme Court? What then? In that case we are left with a helpless animal, the student, (those inside the system consider the student as such) and the federal court system vs. an illegal (because of federal law) billion dollar industry. The student's right to survive, exist, protected by Constitutional law and federal statute. The illegal billion dollar business destroys people__and when the people are of no use, they are exterminated(i.e. murdered) or locked up(set-up!) This is the reason the student was chased across the country and imprisoned in Nevada for 360 days after he filed cv-92-3553, Newark. The federal complaint exposed the illegal billion dollar enterprise__ i.e. it exposed the system. The Real Meaning of the "Pelican Brief" The Pelican Brief was a literary threat against the federal court system and constitutional democracy___the people involved in the billion dollar illegal business were targeting the federal court system (The U.S. Supreme Court). A smart Tulane law student would at this point say that the probability of coincidence is extremely slight and the book was utilized to target the federal court. This page is under construction.
