The Last Word
http://www.takebackthemedia.com/o'reilly-final-word.html
Bill O'Reilly is famous for giving his guests, "The Last Word" and touts his
show as "The No Spin Zone." Micheal Stinson from Take Back The Media
was denied his Last Word and TBTM called "propoganda" by O'Reilly.

Thankfully, we CAN have our own Final Word in response to the segment
that aired February 3, 2003. Mr. O'Reilly asked for documentation on our
claims, and as Micheal said on the program, "all of that information is on
our web site."

FIRST OFF: O'Reilly called Take Back The Media an anti-war group. While
the members of TBTM are unconvinced a war is absolutely necessary at
this time, our prime focus is the MEDIA and the how corporations spin the
news to their best interests instead of the interests of the American
people. Calling TBTM an anti-war group is a classic example of SPIN (what
happened to the No Spin Zone?) designed to discredit our organization as
some radical protest group instead of a group that points out the spin and
manipulation of the media. Shame on you, Bill!

O'Reilly: "I don't think Rush Limbaugh says that every anti-war protester is a
Marxist. I've never heard him say that. Maybe he has."

TBTM Response: No, he didn't ONLY call them Marxists. He did however
call them "anti- American, anti-capitalist, pro Marxists and communists,"
which can be seen on his own web site.

O'Reilly regarding advertisers: "They buy bulk - they don't buy individual
shows and that none of them bailed on Limbaugh because of anything you
did."

TBTM Response: When the previous attempt to discredit TBTM didn't
work, he spun a new one: try to say our efforts have been ineffective and
that we were lying about our impact. The reality is that if our site didn't
have any impact, then what was Micheal doing on O'Reilly's show?

Regardless if advertisers are buying in bulk, they are STILL supporting
Limbaugh if their ad runs on his show. Period. Some advertisers purchasing
bulk ads were unaware their ads were running on the Rush Limbaugh show
and specified their ads run in times other than the Rush Limbaugh show.
Seeing that many of the advertisers had bought bulk ads, we began to
wonder if the Rush spots wer actually such prime slots as it seemed few
advertisers (such the ones that squeeze emu birds to get their oil and a
questionable hair regrowth product) even wanted to be on his show.

Radio Shack was the first to backpedal on the Rush ads claiming it was a
"programming mistake" and that they never were advertisers. However, we
can't understand how such a "programming mistake" would happen over
multiple days and heard nationally. The ads stopped playing when we
initiated the boycott. Here is their official response.

Amtrak's Chief Marketing Officer gave an official response to TBTM and
changed the way they communicate with partners to be sure their ads did
not appear on shows such as Rush Limbaugh.

O'Reilly on silencing Rush: "Isn't trying to silence Rush Limbaugh un-
American in itself? Doesn't he have the right to say what he wants to say?"

TBTM Response: Of course Rush has the right to say what he wants to say.
But does he have the right to say what the Boston Globe calls "Political
Pornography" on government subsidized airwaves that belong to the
American people?

Take Back The Media is conducting a boycott of advertisers which is the
essense of the American way. We aren't silencing Rush. We can't silence
Rush. However, Rush CAN and DOES silence other folks regularly. Two
prime examples:

1) Randi Rhodes, a brilliant Liberal talk-radio counterpart to Rush Limbaugh
deserves to be nationally syndicated. She's on Clear Channel and she
regularly pulls in higher ratings than Rush in her area. Limbaugh has made
it VERY clear to Clear Channel that if they syndicate Randi Rhodes, he will
take his show to another network.

2) Rush routinely screens out callers that express liberal viewpoints. He
never intentionally lets a caller get the upper hand. Don't believe this is
true? Then Rush should have no problem going on the air for a debate with
Randi Rhodes.

Take Back The Media challenges Rush to take on Randi Rhodes in a live
broadcast! Certainly if we're to believe Rush has sound, logical arguments,
then this should be a cakewalk. What do you say, Rush?

Or is it?

O'Reilly: Compared Rush Limbaugh to NPR.

TBTM Response: HUH? It's no wonder Micheal was thrown for a curve on
that one! This is like comparing FOX to PBS. Two different animals. We
never really thought of all of that Classical music as being scathing liberal
viewpoints matching the intensity of the Hate Radio we hear from
Limbaugh. This is some of the most mind-bending spin we've ever seen -
once again in the "No Spin Zone."

O'Reilly's Parting Comment before abruptly cutting Micheal off: "Based on
our interview, your website is propaganda."

TBTM Response: We've been told when O'Reilly cuts you off, you've done
good. We don't know much about that, but we know PLENTY about
propaganda as it is used FREQUENTLY in both Rush Limbaugh's show and
the O'Reilly Factor.

An Example: Both O'Reilly and Limbaugh frequently slap the "Anti-
American" label on people that don't share their opinion whom they wish
to discredit.

We encourage anyone wanting to learn more about propaganda read this
