Settlers blamed in shooting of teenager By Agencies Jewish settlers shooting at Palestinian stone-throwers in the village of Assawiye, near Nablus, were blamed yesterday for critically wounding a 14-year-old boy. Palestinian medics said Bassam al-Khatib, who is in serious condition in a Nablus hospital, was shot in the stomach. Village officials said the clash followed attacks Monday night on several Palestinian homes in the area by residents of the nearby settlement of Eli. Police were seeking the car from which the shots were fired, setting up road blocks in the area. The car had apparently been hit by rocks earlier, in the vicinity of the village of Luben a-Sharkiya. © Copyright 2003 Haaretz.
