I remember the British SUN newspaper (Rupert Murdch) - simply stupid, one fairy tale after the other, but told so good, that their readers are against the EU. But the continent doesn't need the Brits in the Euro zone, the banks in London calculate with the Euro every day, that is reality. If they don't want the prosperity of Ireland, that is with the Euro currency from the beginning, they don't have to. Europe had NO OTHER CHOICE to overcome centuries of war and hate, De Gaulle and Adenauer realized that. De Gaulle was a great statesman, he learned a few words German to hold a historic speech in the German Parliament, in the language of his greatest enemies, to stretch his hand to a common future in peace - and the result is to be seen today. Every nation, every creative team works alone behind closed doors, closed borders, not knowing that the neighbors may be researching the same issue - what a waste of money than to combine the efforts and resources ... The author didn't recognize that every nation will stay a free nation within a united Europe - with the guarantee to live with friends, not enemies across the borders. At the moment 40 % of all our laws and regulations are from the European Union. It's clear, no American ever can understand that, the more enemies, the better for America, but for Germans e.g. it is different. Normally we don't need an army at all, what for?? When only friends live around us and the borders are open? And the author has no idea about Germany's neighbors, who may wish a lot, but not a big united Germany again - with an army as big as the Bush government wishes Europe would have! When we drive to vacation in Spain with my car we don't need to show a passport anywhere, French and Spanish borders are open. Back via Marseille, Nizza, Milan, Italy and Switzerland. We don't have to calculate with prices and currencies anymore, and use the same bills and coins in Madrid, Marseille like in Frankfurt or Amsterdam - and even in Switzerland!
