Subject: Bush's Ninth Year in Office
What are the odds that George Bush (and his Republican goons) will
ALLOW the absolute power of the "unitary executive," the Presidency
as he's redefined it, to be passed on to a DEMOCRAT as President?
Just imagine the spectacle of George W. Bush handing the key the
White House to HILLARY CLINTON, along with her husband the
bitterest enemies of far-right Republicans and the GOP's "moral
majority" --
the wife of Bill Clinton, who defeated his father in 1992,
interrupting the continuity of Bush government.
Oh, the irony! Richard Nixon must have felt something along the
same lines when, in 1960, he had to concede defeat to the Democrat
John F. Kennedy, and again in 1968, with a sinking sense of deja
vu, when Bobby Kennedy's announcement of his candidacy threatened a
second humiliating fall from grace. Not one but TWO "coups" at the
hands of his most hated arch-enemies since the '40s, the Kennedys?
But luckily for Nixon, JFK was murdered shortly after, RFK just
before, they challenged his right to rule.
What are the odds that, even if Hillary Clinton became President in
2008, she'd still be alive in 2009?
What are the odds that her successor, a relatively inexperienced VP
Obama, would not find himself embroiled in some awkward, "half-
truth"-based contretemps that compels him to resign from office?
What are the odds that George Bush (and his Republican goons) would
allow "an orderly transition of power" to a DEMOCRAT when, sometime
during the next administration, such a President must decide how to
respond to a demand from some European government, or the
International Court of Justice, for the arrest and extradition of
"accused war criminals" George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld,
and other ex-officials of the Republicans' regime, to stand trial
for multiple criminal violations of international law?
