Why is Huckabee "mum"? If Sharlene gets released, what kind of "deal"
are they going to force her into?

Gov. Huckabee Mum on Freedom for Clinton Cocaine
  Accuser

A spokesman for Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has refused to
confirm or deny Inside Cover's Tuesday report that Sharline
Wilson, the jailed ex-drug dealer who says she witnessed Bill
Clinton use cocaine on multiple occasions, has been
  recommended for clemency.

Wilson drew a 31 year prison sentence in 1991 for selling
cocaine to an undercover police officer who she says begged
her for the drug. She was recently transferred to the
Grimes-McPherson correctional facility in Newport, Ark. On
Monday Inside Cover reported exclusively that a prison
clemency board has recommended Wilson for early release by a
  margin of four to one.

Huckabee press liaison Jim Harris told Inside Cover on
  Wednesday:

"Sharline Wilson applies annually for the Governor to commute
her sentence to time served. And the Post Prison Transfer
Board, which is essentially the parole board, may have made a
recommendation to that effect but the Governor is not bound
to follow it. He has not announced any decision regarding
Sharline Wilson. But he has turned her down in the past."

Harris said Huckabee turned Wilson down in 1998 but could not
say whether the Post Prison Transfer Board had handed up a
similarly strong recommendation for early release at the
time. Until Gov. Huckabee makes a decision on Wilson's appeal
this year, Harris said he would be unable to comment on
specifics, such as the reportedly lopsided PPTB vote in her
  favor.

"Usually I wouldn't see that information untill we're ready
to make an announcement," said Harris, adding, "The Governor
strongly believes that all requests should stand on their own
  merit."

Under Arkansas law, Gov. Huckabee has 121 days from the date
of the PPTB's ruling to make a decision. The precise date of
Wilson's clemency hearing could not be learned, though she
told one source with whom she's been corresponding regularly
  about the development only recently.

Without elaborating, the source said he suspects that Wilson
is now especially eager to win her freedom because of recent
  prison harassment.

Calls to PPTB chairman Leroy Brownlee on Wednesday and
  Thursday went unreturned.

Sharline Wilson's case is well known to Gov. Huckabee's
aides. Harris recognized the name instantly, adding, "She
goes on talk radio in California for some reason and gets
people out there riled up. Then they call us with all sorts
  of information."

No fewer than four eyewitness accounts link Clinton to
cocaine use. Wilson herself has told reporters that she sold
two grams of cocaine to Clinton's brother Roger, who shared
the drug with the then-Governor as she watched. She testified
about the episode before a federal grand jury in 1990.

Former Clinton girlfriend Sally Perdue has described
occasions where Clinton would come to her home and use the
drug. "He had all the equipment set up like a real pro," she
  said.

Former Arkansas state trooper L.D. Brown recently revealed
another Clinton cocaine moment for his book, "Crossfire:
Witness in the Clinton Investigation". While guarding the
then-Governor on a trip to Boca-Raton, FL, Brown says Clinton
disappeared into a restaurant restroom in order to snort the
  drug.

And an Arkansas police surveillance video shows Roger Clinton
telling his dealer, "Got to get some for my brother. He's got
a nose like a vacuum cleaner."

In 1992, Clinton operative Cody Shearer unearthed convicted
bomber Brett Kimberlin, who claimed Indiana prison
authorities were preventing him from airing his accusation
that he'd sold Vice President Dan Quayle a marijuana
cigarette while Quayle was in college.

The press descended like a swarm of locusts, making Kimberlin
an overnight media darling. Only years later would reporters
acknowledge that Kimberlin likely fabricated the charge.

Though it's been in the public domain since at least 1996,
Sharline Wilson's far more credible allegation has been
ignored by journalists, some of whom now demand to know
whether George W. Bush has ever used cocaine.

Wilson has encouraged friends to contact Gov. Huckabee on her
behalf. The email address given in Tuesday's report was
  incorrect.
