-Caveat Lector-

Cool that you've expressed your beliefs and indicated WHY you believe in
them.
"Thanks for sharing," as the cliche saying goes.
Small matter that I am of a different opinion. Despite the weight some
subscribers apparently give my word, I'm just one person among many here,
with my own point of view based on an assemblage of facts, logical relations
between them, and certain conclusions derived therefrom which I hope I
present in an understandable manner.
Feel free to take issue with anything I say. Everyone has his or her own
mind, y'know.
There's not much point in arguing against anyone's BELIEF system,
because BELIEF is in many ways the OPPOSITE of REASON, subject to different
criteria.
Even if --as is too seldom the case-- one's beliefs are solidly grounded
in "objective" (yes, a slippery adjective) data and "belief" here really only
means a more EMOTIONAL committment to the VALIDITY of the conclusions one has
drawn from such data --such conclusions pointing the way to the human MEANING
(another subjective term) of what is otherwise just coolly "computable"
data-- once one enters the realm of EMOTIONAL
valuations of "ideas," reason and logic take on the "feel" of an ANTAGONISTIC
force
(just from operating outside of its natural element, purely INTELLECTUAL
discourse) --
so it's relatively ineffective and therefore pointless to "argue." The more
so when --as is commonly the case--.one's beliefs are grounded more in
"assumptions" than in facts.
In short, I see no reason to dispute the "validity" of anything you've
stated, inasmuch
as you've already specified that such-and-such is your BELIEF and that you
BELIEVE
such-and-such to be true, rather than going to the unwarranted extreme of
stating that
it *IS* TRUE -- a different matter altogether. Myself, I respect the
argument offered by anyone who can make such a necessary distinction, even if
I might argue against it -- and I don't always feel it my "responsibility" to
argue against it.

So, please don't assume you're in hostile territory here on CTRL and
don't treat me as if I'm a force to be reckoned with, who needs to be
appeased somehow, in order to "earn" your right to express your own opinions!
We WELCOME different points of view on CTRL and welcome them even more when
they're as carefully expounded as yours
It was certainly an interesting post, especially for what you've said
about (alleged) encounters with the (alleged) "retro-engineering" of "alien"
technology -- a subject which I'm not qualified to judge, about which, being
short on facts, I can only have "opinions." IF TRUE, that might indeed lend
credence to the "extraterrestrial origins" hypothesis.

And don't be surprised if, ASSUMING such a thing to be true, just for
the sake of argument, I even JOIN you in <carefully chosen word> SPECULATING
about it, exploring the ramifications of the notion ...

>PS: I really like the above quote. Is it original?
>It reminds me of the Moody Blues for some reason, or:
>"Hold on to your hats, folks, it's going to be a bumpy ride."

Personally, I prefer the ominous "gangsta" lyrics superimposed on the
Bolero-like riffs of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir," used as "theme song" in the
movie GODZILLA ....
In THAT context, the refrain: "Close your eyes // Come with me ..." (Uh-oh
...)
