Well, let me just say that during the period of "Operation Orwell," I was a corporate executive at a (now defunct) nationwide security company and international detective agency headquartered in the Midwest, and that, on discovering the extent to which "my" company was apparently being used as a vehicle for domestic "black ops" by the CIA and RCMP (often a front for British intelligence), I had resigned on moral and ethical grounds -- and then had to weather quite literal death threats aimed at assuring my silence about certain things I knew or was at least suspected of knowing. ... (This was the same period when, following the scandal attendant on the public revelation of CIA misdeeds during the Rockefeller and Church Committee hearings around 1976, the Agency undertook a policy of "outsourcing" covert ops to "private sector" companies -- in order to be able to say, "truthfully," that *the CIA* had no records to be subpoenaed, to put such records out of the reach of FOIA requests, and otherwise cover its tracks.) During my brief career in the aforementioned company --where I had risen rapidly, from being an "investigative journalist," part-time PI, and full-time "information management" specialist and administrative troubleshooter, to organizing and personally overseeing the corporate-level centralization of its loose-knit, heretofore semi-autonomous branches in this country and abroad, including a new centralization of all its detectives' case files-- I almost immediately became aware of some operations that were apparently intended to CONTROL highly-placed local politicians and the like. My company gathered --using ILLEGAL methods-- highly negative information which (in the "wrong" hands) could be used to blackmail, or otherwise apply behind-the-scenes pressure on, certain subjects being targeted -- and the "clients" who CHOSE these subjects and picked up the tab for these operations were, by all indications, "cut-outs" fronting for intelligence agencies with a POLITICAL agenda -- a conclusion supported by noticing how readily local law enforcement agencies bent or broke all the rules to accommodate these operations, whenever (as sometimes happened) they stumbled across them, blowing our cover ... Cutolo's affidavit says: "I instituted surveillance against Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Edward King, Michael Dukakis, Levin H. Campbell, Andrew A. Caffey, Fred Johnston, Kenneth A. Chandler, Thomas P. O'Neill, to name a few of the targets. Surveillance at my orders was instituted at the Governors' residences of Massachusetts, Maine, New York, and New Hampshire. The Catholic cathedrals of NY and Boston were placed under electronic surveillance also. In the area of Ft. Devens, ALL local police and politicians were under some sort of surveillance at various times." BESIDES those with the 10th Special Forces, " [Cutolo] recruited a number of local state employees who worked within the ranks of local police ... to assist in this Operation. They were veterans and had previous security clearances. They were told at the outset that if they were caught they were on their own." Notice also that Cutolo reports, "Edwin Wilson indicated to me during our conversation [about] the dissemination of Operation Orwell information [to friendly "private sector" corporations within the Military-Industrial Complex] .. that Operation Orwell would be implemented NATIONWIDE by 4 July 1980 ... As of [1980], 8,400 police departments, 1,370 churches, and approximately 17,900 [U.S.] citizens have been monitored under Operation Orwell." And that at the very BEGINNING of nationwide "surveillance"! Within four years, under the Reagan "presidency" of ex-CIA director George Bush, Oliver North et al were developing a national database of "potential dissidents" for REX 84 ... A project even more deserving of the appellation "Operation ORWELL" .. Personally, I'd take certain select things here claimed by "renegades" (?) Wilson and Terpil with a grain of salt -- for example, the following statement: "Iinformation was collected on suspected <sic> members of the Trilateral Commission and the Bilderberg group. Among those that information was collected on were Gerald Ford and President Jimmy Carter. Edwin Wilson indicated that additional surveillance was implemented against former CIA director George Bush, who Wilson named as a member of the Trilateral Commission." Note that Cutolo adds, "[However,] I do not have personal knowledge that Ford, Carter, or Bush were under surveillance." Either Cutolo is reporting verbatim what he was told regarding the role of George Bush et al, as PERCEIVED but MISINTERPRETED by Wilson, or Wilson was deliberately MISLEADING him (for pragmatic personal reasons about which we can speculate), or else Cutolo HIMSELF --being a "good soldier"-- is doing some "sleight of hand" here, directing attention AWAY FROM the very parties responsible for Operation Orwell ... On the other hand, Wilson and Terpil ARE right on the money regarding the alliance between the "Secret Government" (to use the Christic Institute's description) and the defense-industry multinationals, who figured large in the historic interval between the Ford and Reagan years, when the CIA's Fascist International had gone "underground," in the limelight only in Italy, Turkey, Israel, and Iran -- prior to the "October Surprise." Thomas Clines, yes -- but with Secord, Singlaub, and other "Octopus" characters -- all in one way or another linked to Bush, Big Oil, drugs and armaments, and the 'Mafia' ...
