Another Case of "Planned Chaos" ?

It's been nearly a year since the incident in Seattle in which a passenger
on a city bus shot the
driver as the bus was going over a bridge. The bus, which was headed toward
downtown Seattle
with more than thirty passengers, plunged off the bridge and landed on top of
an apartment
building. Although three people died in the crash (including the bus driver and
the gunman)
and dozens were injured, the crash could have been much worse. The bus had
just entered the Aurora Bridge and was about to cross over the Lake Washington
Ship Canal.
If the shooting had happened just a few seconds later, the bus would have
plunged more than
150 feet into the water below (quite possibly killing everyone on board),
instead on falling only 50
feet and landing on the roof of a building. After reading newspaper accounts of
the incident (by
accessing the web sites of the Seattle Times and the Tacoma Tribune) I was left
wondering if this
was just another random act of "gun violence" or something more sinister......

As the terrifying sounds of crashing metal and concrete shook
their
homes Friday afternoon, the people in a Seattle apartment
building
tried to make some sense of what was happening.
No one thought of a Metro bus crashing off the Aurora Bridge
some
50 feet overhead.
Seattle police said a passenger shot the driver, then the
articulated
bus careened across the six-lane bridge, plowed through a steel
guardrail and a light pole and plummeted to the street below. It
struck
the apartment building on the way down.
The driver and another man, a passenger, were killed and 33
others
were injured, authorities said. Two of the injured were in
critical
condition late Friday at Swedish Medical Center in
Seattle........
The driver, 44-year-old Mark McLaughlin of Lynnwood, was thrown
from the front window of the bus, landing on the roof of the
apartment
building at North 36th Street and Aurora Avenue North in
Seattle's
Fremont District. He was pronounced dead at the scene after medic
crews worked to save him.
The passenger died later at Harborview Medical Center in
Seattle,
apparently of a gunshot wound to the head, hospital spokeswoman
Tina Mankowski said. His identity wasn't released. He appeared to
be
in his late 20s or early 30s, Mankowski said.....

Why did gunman do it?
Passenger killed in crash may have been the shooter

A 43-year-old passenger who died Friday in the crash of a Metro
bus
may have shot the bus driver before the vehicle plunged off
Seattle's
Aurora Bridge.
Seattle police said Saturday the man is considered a "possible
suspect" in the slaying of Mark F. McLaughlin, 44, a Metro bus
driver
for almost 20 years.
Police said the suspected gunman, who had a gunshot wound to the
head, may have committed suicide after shooting the driver. They
are
still searching for a motive.
KING-TV identified the suspect as Silas Cool, an unemployed man
who was known at the Union Gospel Mission shelter in downtown
Seattle.
Police still are investigating the events surrounding the
accident,
which occurred at about 3:20 p.m. Friday near North 36th Street
and
Aurora Avenue North. Police say a passenger shot McLaughlin as he
was driving an articulated bus southbound on the bridge.
McLaughlin
lost control of the vehicle, and it swerved across five lanes of
traffic,
plowed through a guardrail and crashed into the roof of an
apartment
building before landing right side up on the ground......

Little time for terror, say survivors

With McLaughlin at the wheel, the bus trundled on southward,
stopping periodically for passengers amid the strip malls,
motels
and parking lots of Aurora Avenue North.......
None of them remembers where or when the large man with the
tan jacket, tan cap and
sunglasses boarded the bus - only that he sat in the front
seat, across from the driver....
What happened next was instantaneous and unthinkable - like a
scene from a Clint Eastwood thriller.
Just past 3:10 p.m., according to passenger accounts, the man
in the tan jacket pulled out a small revolver and shot
McLaughlin. Witnesses report no warning, no argument, no
exchange at all.
Just the normal rumble of a diesel engine, and then, gunshots.
McLaughlin immediately lost control of the bus, which hurtled
onto the bridge at perhaps 40
mph. The 60-foot-long, 40,000-pound bus careened across the
center line and into the path of an oncoming van, smashing
through a concrete and metal railing before plunging into thin
air.
Concrete and steel scattered like shrapnel as the bus plunged
about 50 feet onto the roof of the
apartment building. McLaughlin, the driver, was thrown onto the
roof.
The precise location was fateful.
Had the shooting occurred five seconds earlier, the bus might
have swerved into the concrete center-lane
barrier that ends just before the bridge and perhaps avoided the big fall.
Five seconds later, and it would have plunged more than 100 feet
into Lake Union.....

Soupkitchen director IDs suspect in bus shooting

An official for a downtown mission helped police
identify the man suspected of fatally shooting a Metro
Transit driver and causing the bus to careen off the
north end of the Aurora Bridge.
Though police did not release the suspect's identity,
Bill Wippel of the Union Gospel Mission said he
identified him for police from a photo they showed him.
Wippel said the man had registered at the mission as
Steven Gary Coole. The man reportedly also called
himself Silas Cool.
The suspect died at Harborview Medical Center on
Friday night with a gunshot wound to his head.....
The witnesses said a 6-foot-2-inch-tall man weighing around 200
pounds was sitting in a front
seat across from the driver. He was wearing a tan coat and cap
and sunglasses, and he may have been holding a bag. He stood
up and shot the driver several times with a handgun.
Police said the dead man matched the descriptions that
witnesses gave of the shooter.
Coole was shot in the head. Although police wouldn't confirm
reports that the wound was
self-inflicted, they did note that a small-caliber,
semiautomatic pistol was found near Coole. A
second, unfired small-caliber handgun was found on him at
Harborview......

Bus driver killed by shot to the chest

The driver of the Metro bus that plunged off the Aurora Bridge
was shot
twice before the bus fell, the first shot going through his arm
and into his
chest, ultimately killing him, Seattle Police said today.
Driver Mark McLaughlin also was shot in the abdomen before the
shooter,
Silas Garfield Cool, 43, shot himself with a .380 automatic
handgun. The
bus plunged over the north side of the bridge, leaving three
dead and 32
injured, according to Seattle Police Capt. Dan Bryant, head of
the Violent
Crime Unit......
When police searched his apartment over the weekend, they found
the box
for the automatic handgun believed to have been used in the
shootings.
That gun and a second gun found in the bus wreckage were both
unregistered, Bryant said......
He lived in an apartment on the northern edge of the University
District.
Patricia Sullivan, who lived below him, knew him only as "S.
Cool" the
name on his mailbox. She described him as reclusive. He covered
two of
his windows with aluminum foil.......

There are several aspects of this case which lead me to wonder whether
Silas Cool was
a *programmed* assassin :
1.) This shooting was clearly a premeditated act---not a random event. Silas
cool sat at the front
of the bus DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM THE DRIVER.
2.) Silas Cool "self-destructed" (i.e. he shot himself IN THE HEAD) immediately
after carrying
out his mission. Mind-controlled assassins are often programmed to
self-destruct after carrying
out an assignment. It is nearly impossible to prove that a DEAD person has been
programmed;
but if he had survived, he could have been examined for evidence of
programming.
3.) The windows in Cool's were covered with aluminum foil........WHY ????!!?
Could it be that at some point he was being harassed by people using MICROWAVE
weapons ?
Has any else out there taken a closer look at this case ?
