Protects
Freedom
Max Tax is a goal that comes to the heart of how a free society
operates. Currently Americans work to pay the government, on average, more than
38% of their income in taxes. We believe, as do a majority of Americans, that
the most government should take is 25%.

Taxation above 25% weakens society, undermines volunteerism and adversely
impacts our freedom because Americans give up too much of their time to satisfy
governments’ insatiable appetite for tax dollars. Consequently, communities
suffer because parents spend less time raising children and citizen spend less
time volunteering and solving problems in their own communities.
A 25% Max Tax will allow Americans to keep more of the money they earn
so they will have more time to spend with their families, volunteering for their
church, synagogue or mosque, or helping their favorite charity improve the lives
of the poor.
Ensures National
Security
When a major global crisis emerges where the American military must
defend our vital interests, it may become necessary to raise taxes to pay for an
ongoing conflict without destroying the economy. Without an adequate
margin to raise taxes our ability to defend ourselves is compromised. A 25% Max
Tax keeps taxation at a low enough level so that taxpayers are able to
sustain the increase to ensure that we declare victory before the treasury
declares bankruptcy.
Defines the Endgame
while Creating a Better Government
Establishing a 25% Max Tax sets an endgame so that Americans will
have a definition of success and a standard on which to measure it. The 25% Max
Tax will force governments to prioritize, modernize, downsize and privatize.
At the same time we should apply everything we know about free enterprise,
technology, science, markets, entrepreneurship, quality and the information age
to government so that we can reshape our institutions to provide better services
at 25% than at the current 38%.

Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith's
The
Twenty-First Century City
"He [has] saved his city millions of dollars by hiring private companies to
do public work." - The News-Tribune
America's cities can be saved - so says Indianapolis
Mayor Stephen Goldsmith. As the mayor of America's twelfth largest city he
eliminated city deficits, cut the city payroll, enhanced services, rebuilt
infrastructure, revitalized neighborhoods, and reduced crime. And he did it all
while cutting taxes! The Twenty-First Century City gives a hopeful glimpse of
the city of the future - a city where less bureaucratic intervention means lower
costs, safer streets, and better services. Mayor Goldsmith has proved that by
using this new philosophy of urban governance - of government acting as a
business and perceiving its citizens as customers - America's cities can once
again buzz with the sounds of success.
