-Caveat Lector-

Thank you for a good, honest, straightforward question which also recognizes
the importance of the issue. Robots COULD be our Nemesis. So could atomic,
biological, chemical, or rocks-in-space sciences. All of these can be used
constructively or destructively. Robots are the ultimate "weapon of mass
CONSTRUCTION". They do only what they are told (programmed) to do unless we
should find that somehow they have become imbued with a soul or a programmer
has done something really STUPID. Robots are the "Ultimate Shmoo".They
could mine the asteroid belt and make every man, woman and child on Earth a
multi-billionaire. They could go on to mine the Oort Cloud and build a Dyson
Sphere around this star. They could find cures for diseases faster than any
humans. They could feed the starving billions. They could preach/teach
better than any pope or "Whitehouse Tele-Evangelist" (that's one of the
easier tasks). But the US WILL NOT BRING THIS TO FRUITION for the human
race because as it has proven from Iraq to Kosovo, it is NOT FIT TO LEAD THE
HUMAN RACE INTO SPACE COLONIZATION. It is obsessed with genocide and lies.
It is utterly immoral and predatory and depraved. It is an anti-culture. It
is the nation which sent Trotsky/Bronstein out from New York City to start
The Holocaust (of 60 million+ souls in Russia and surrounding regions) in
1917. So we look elsewhere for our "Robot-for-President". Maybe to Japan.
Maybe Russia. Or China. Maybe even Mars. But not the US.
FWP.
